Unfortunately, legroom in the rear ranks near the bottom of the class. The front seats have decent headroom, and thanks to the Escape’s upright windows and high roofline, sight lines are quite good. Your doctor might qualify this as exercise. The optional heated front seats have only one heat level, and to lower the backseat you’ll first have to yank out all three head restraints, flip the bottom cushions forward and stow the headrests. Get an XLT or Limited, and the “power” driver’s seat has a manual reclining adjustment. What’s more, the Escape remains one of the only crossovers in this class to forgo a telescoping steering wheel. Our test car’s optional piano-black trim and high-quality headliner were high points, but both are diminished by the surrounding sea of flimsy buttons and grainy dashboard plastics. Redesigned three model years ago, the Escape’s interior feels rugged but low-rent. Neither figure is particularly impressive, but the V-6 Escape’s combined rating - 20 or 21 mpg, depending on driveline - rates more evenly with the V-6 competition. All-wheel drive drops the rating to 22 mpg. Like those two, the Ford also tows up to 3,500 pounds when properly equipped.Ĭombined EPA gas mileage for a front-drive, automatic four-cylinder is 23 mpg. It pairs with the standard six-speed automatic, and the combination makes the V-6 Escape a capable mover - not as quick as the V-6 Toyota RAV4, but sprightlier than the underwhelming V-6 Equinox. We’ve driven the V-6 in years past, and it’s appreciably punchier, though still a bit raspy. The four-cylinder engine has enough torque to make it, but more responsive transmission kickdown would help.Ī 3.0-liter V-6 is optional, and its 240 horsepower considerably outpaces the four-cylinder’s 171 hp. Although the transmission rarely hunts for gears, its stubbornness becomes a fault when you drone up an on-ramp in 4th or 5th with the pedal halfway to the floor. A six-speed automatic is standard on all but the front-drive XLS, and it prefers to choose a gear and stay there. The Ford Escape’s 2.5-liter four-cylinder gets you going briskly, albeit with a loud drone. Whether it’s the low-tech rear drum brakes or the lean-happy suspension that’s to blame, the results aren’t inspiring. Where other crossovers stop hard on all fours, the Escape’s tail gets squirrely in the same exercise. The brake pedal feels mushy and tentative, and the Escape’s standard antilock brakes kick in quite early. It feels as top-heavy as the Space Needle - listing hard into corners, squatting back or pitching forward when you speed up or slow down. If only the rest of the Escape followed suit. The wheel has gobs of power assist at low speeds, making parking lots a cinch, and at higher speeds it takes on winding roads with lively precision. Simple cruising aside, the Ford Escape’s slow reflexes foil any chance of car-like maneuverability - a shame, given its steering is decent. The Escape feels floaty at times - one editor bemoaned its ride for just that reason - but in terms of sheer comfort, Ford gets top marks. Pavement imperfections that filter up to the cabin in other crossovers simply don’t in here. The suspension handles larger bumps well enough, but it really shines over long stretches of highway. Ford’s entry is one of the few in this category that earns that label, and not just in a relative sense. There’s the tolerable Chevy Equinox, the choppy Kia Sportage, and - with a ride refined over the years - the comfortable Escape. In small crossover SUV vehicles, ride comfort is all over the board. The Ford Escape Hybrid and its gas-electric drivetrain are covered separately on. Click here to see Escape trims compared, and here to see the 20 Escape compared. Our test car had Ford’s 2.5-liter four-cylinder a V-6 is optional on the XLT and Limited. The XLT sits between the entry-level XLS and range-topping Ford Escape Limited, all three of which can be had with either front- or all-wheel drive. Driving a midlevel Escape XLT back-to-back with eight competitors, one thing became apparent: The next Escape can’t come soon enough. Somewhere in the scrum is the Escape, a popular two-row model in its twilight years. Today’s vehicle market offers a wide range of choices, from glorified hatchbacks to those just big enough to shoehorn in an impossibly small third row. Even in its aged state, the 2011 Ford Escape still hits a sweet spot in terms of ride comfort, but its drab interior and clumsy handling leave it behind the increasingly flashy competition.Ĭar shoppers expressed their love for small crossovers more than a decade ago, and the auto industry responded.

If you poke around openAndUnlockCCCKeychain you will understand that the password is being created at the function kp. Tip: to strip symbols in Xcode the “Deployment Postprocessing” build option must be set to Yes, otherwise the binary will not be stripped. _stubs:100168D76 jmp cs:_SecKeychainUnlock_ptr _stubs:100168D76 _SecKeychainUnlock proc near CODE XREF: _openAndUnlockCCCKeychain+30C If CCC is using macOS keychain infrastructure then we should be able to see Keychain related APIs in this binary. While waiting for disassembly to complete we can try to guess what to look for. So load up /Library/PrivilegedHelperTools/ into your favorite disassembler. Given that CCC has a privileged helper tool, it is a pretty good assumption that it will be responsible for managing the private keychain (because it runs with higher privileges and protects keychain access from regular users). Is it dumb enough to be hardcoded? Or is it something smarter and generated per user/machine/etc? Well the latter is the obvious answer now since this post titles gives it up. The problem is that the private keychain is locked with a password and I couldn’t find any information about this password. I knew CCC had a private keychain somewhere in the system ( /Library/Application Support//CCC-global.keychain to be precise) so my goal was to click Keychain Access show password radio button to recover the password. Carbon Copy Cloner was still able to make the backups to that image but I couldn’t open it myself (well it is mounted during a backup but that is not fun enough to write a blogpost about!). Of course I used a super smart password and now I couldn’t remember it. Some time ago I created some backups in a hurry and used the encrypted sparse bundle option as destination. When you generate a backup you can select an encrypted sparse bundle (disk image) as destination, and save its password in the application private keychain. This time my victim was Carbon Copy Cloner (CCC). Usually you can’t remember it already in the next day or in the next week, since in a month it is totally wiped out from your memory. They get more annoying when you set a super smart new password with that smug feeling that it is such a great password that you will never forget about it (or something crappy you set in a rush). Passwords are a modern annoyance and their diversity is something you can’t avoid if you want a minimum amount of account security (don’t forget to turn on those 2FA options, avoiding SMS versions if possible). Julie Taymor’s battle against the studio for final cut on the film was made pretty public. Things are still unknown but I feel like people are more energized and involved. Right now we're all embracing this revolution and it's undeniable that there's this shift happening. It was when I feel like the country started to change, at least in my eyes, and the future was still very unknown. A lot of people thought it was a real protest. When we were filming the Fifth Avenue protest scenes, it was so relevant to the point that we had posters up saying "War Is Over" and "Peace Now" and everyone wanted us to leave them up. I think people were afraid of the politics in it as it came out right when we had gone to war. But in the 11 years since its release, it has grown to become a beloved cult classic - especially among millennials, who have come to discover the Beatles’ music through Taymor’s technicolor fantasy world of 1960s New York.ĭo you think the reception to the film would’ve been different if it’d been released in 2018? The film was derided as a box office dud and career setback for its cast of up-and-comers, which included Evan Rachel Wood as an all-American college girl who dreams of changing the world. That might explain why the $70 million production opened to a polarized response, and made back only $29 million when it was finally released in 2007, after numerous delays and battles between the studio and director Julie Taymor over its final cut. Featuring trippy set pieces, a largely unknown cast, and Bono in a handlebar mustache, Across The Universe is something of a Trojan horse: an audacious arthouse musical disguised as a glossy blockbuster. Set to 34 classic Beatles compositions with limited dialogue, it tells the story of the blossoming romance between an American girl and a Liverpudlian artist, set against the backdrop of the Vietnam War and other counterculture movements of the ‘60s. It’s something of a miracle that a film like Across The Universe exists in the first place. “Don’t you love it when he’s like, ‘We know how to get natural gas…We can get it! We know how to get it! Yes we do!’”įor more, listen and subscribe to The Last Laugh podcast. Carvey has regularly done sketch impressions on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert playing, among others, President Joe Biden and former national security. “I think it’s a wonderful move,” Carvey said. Comedian Dana Carvey appeared on CBS 'The Late Show' Tuesday night and demonstrated his impression of the new president. That's the more empathetic version of Biden that we've seen a lot of since the COVID-19 outbreak. Carvey says his impersonation is the one you see at a town hall. Then he demonstrated the way this feistier Biden alternates between a whisper and a yell. Carvey debuted his Biden impersonation on 'The Late Show with Stephen Colbert' on Tuesday. Imitating Biden’s tendency to repeat, “no joke” and “I’m not kidding around here,” Carvey said, “No human being in the world thinks that’s a joke. “Because when he first came out, he was like a soothing grandpa offering you a butterscotch from his coin purse.”Ĭomedian Jon Gabrus Gets Wasted on TV Because We’re All Gonna Die “By the way, have you noticed that Biden’s gotten a little feistier lately?” the comedian continued, exploring different facets of his impressive impression. The SNL alum said that Biden always looks like the. Because if you slow it down and watch it again, I think Biden was actually trying to punch MBS.” He imagined Biden saying, “How about a knuckle sandwich? Come on!” Carvey explained that he likes to focus on the way Biden seems to speak as the gentle father of the country in his town hall speeches. Doing his Biden impression, Carvey noted Biden’s frequent references to his Scranton, Pennsylvania upbringing saying, in a Biden-like voice, I grew up in Scranton, Pennsylvania. After playing the clip of Biden casually fist-bumping Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Carvey joked, “Joe got a lot of flack for this, but I think we’re looking at this the wrong way. |
